After living in this delightful Mid-Century style home for 60 years, the owners of this Marin County residence were ready to sell. Yet, the four-bedroom, three-bath house needed remodeling to highlight its vast potential, modernize highly sought-after buyer amenities, and create thoughtful spaces more conducive to indoor/outdoor living. 

Managing the residential makeover of 21 Convent Ct was a lot of fun. A team of interior designers and craftsmen carefully revamp the home's interior and exterior, creating a gorgeous collaboration of finishes. Outside, the facade was repainted to add curb appeal, the yard was re-landscaped, and new vegetation was added, providing a strikingly fresh look and feel to the home's front exterior.

The kitchen was opened up to allow more space, a countertop was added for additional seating, new appliances were installed, and a new hood was framed out to provide an added level of form and functionality. Additionally, a piece of old metal shelving found by the contractor was cunningly crafted into a floating shelf in the kitchen.

New French doors were installed in the dining room to give the sense of an indoor-outdoor entertainment lifestyle while allowing the air to flow straight through the primary living areas of the house with ease – perfect for San Rafael weather. 

A deck was built outside the dining room to enhance the living experience, connecting several outdoor living areas along the back of the property. We intentionally defined unique spaces to relax inside and out, ensuring buyers would be attracted to the property and enjoy living in the home for many years.

The utmost attention to detail was given to selecting new mid-century-inspired light fixtures, beautiful bamboo flooring, and new paint for the interior and exterior.

To create a luxurious atmosphere in the primary bedroom suite, we reconfigured the bedroom and bathroom, replaced the small door with large French doors to allow more light, and created a tranquil, private sitting area beyond. 

Partnering with interior designers and expert stagers meant the house was full of simplistic yet elegant details. When touring the property, these pretty painted stairs were a favorite among potential buyers. 

The bathrooms and three bedrooms were also refreshed, modernizing many dated aspects, adding value to the home, and optimizing livability. 

Outside, we reinforced the retaining walls and re-landscaped the rear yard. To further exude the indoor-outdoor vibe, a sitting area was created on top of the hill to provide the perfect place to relax and soak up views of the neighborhood valley.
